Kid’s Kitchen

Cook up a wonderful experience for your aspiring chef! Enjoy a day at MIT’s Endicott House, known for our fantastic culinary creations – learning everything from kitchen safety to making main dishes and everything in between!

Day inclusive of all lesson ingredients, full culinary class, take-home chef apparel (adult and child), children’s cooking equipment set, lunch, dessert, refreshments, meals prepared from the day to share at home and the savoriest of memories! Each Jr. Chef must be accompanied by adult. Special guest appearance of Leah Flynn Gallant and her daughter, Caroline of “Cooking with Caroline.”

Tentative Agenda –

9:00AM:  Welcome & Introduction – Demonstration and instruction on kitchen tools. Chef skills: peeling, cutting and basic safety rules.

9:15 – 10:00AM:  Making an Herb Blend – Learn the taste and application of basil, oregano, parsley, chives, paprika, black pepper and kosher salt.

10:15 – 10:30AM:  Making a Signature Soup – View recipes, select vegetables, prepare vegetables (review various dices) peeling cutting bring stock to a boil add vegetables, add herbs and season.

10:30 – 10:45AM: Break –  Snack and beverage.

10:45 -11:15AM:  Making Mac & Cheese (Your Favorite Version) –  Review cheese sauce recipe. Select cheeses (Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Provolone (soft), Pepper Jack, 4 Cheese blend). Make your sauce, add cheese mix, season and coat over noodles.

11:15AM – 12:00PM:  Tanghulu Fruit – How to make this popular sweet treat at home.

12:00PM – Lunch

1:00PM – Thank you and closing session

Each group to take home the day’s preparations. Child will take home kid’s cooking tool set tools, apron, gloves & chef hat. Adult cooking set consists of wooden kitchen tools, apron and hat.

Advance registration required. Very limited availability to maintain highest level of individualized instruction.
